I Shed a Man Tear For George Carlin
If you haven’t heard by now, George Carlin has passed away due to heart failure.
George Carlin has been a very influential force in my life. I first started listening to him in the early 90’s. I was hooked immediately to his style of comedy. He makes you laugh in a unique way. I think he is one of the most brilliant people of our time. He really speaks the truth and is not afraid to say whatever comes to his mind. He does it in such an intelligent way that you can’t help but to listen.
He is notorious for his remarks against religion. He basically thinks that God does not exist and that people are simply delusional. He makes so many good logical points it is tough to argue against what he says.
I did not get the chance to meet with him before he died and it makes me feel sad that I missed the opportunity. Regardless, his comedy and words will always be with me in the form of CD or flash drive. I have read two of his books, “Napalm and Silly Putty” and “Brain Droppings.” They are both very great books. He has a third book “When Will Jesus Bring The Pork Chops?” but I didn’t read that one yet. They are not like regular books; they are more like listening to one of his stand-ups. The cool thing is that you can read them over and over and they are always entertaining.
It can be tough for certain people to deal with his irreverence. He does use a lot of curse words in his acts as well and a lot of politically incorrect words. I think it is important to keep an open mind when you listen to him. My friend wrote a blog regarding this as well.
His death has been a heart felt one for me and I will be mourning for the rest of this day.
It’s funny but I can’t help to wonder, what if he is wrong? What if God DOES exist? What if there is a Heaven and a Hell? He would most definitely be on his way to Hell if so right?
Well, if God made us in his image then maybe he might be impressed by George and send him to heaven anyway. He might feel cruel to send such a special person (that he created) to be tortured for eternity. Maybe God just might show compassion for this guy. Maybe he may even change the rules. Instead of sending all those who defy him to hell he might make exceptions for now on. It certainly is an entertaining thought.

Yea, Carlin’s death came as such a surprise to me, and I’ve actually felt kind of sad today. It’s odd to feel sad about someone I’ve never met. Goodbye George, you were truly an inspiration.
