10,000 Word Post Contest Turned Out to Be a Disaster
- 4 Comment
Ok, maybe "disaster" is a strong word. The 10,000 word post contest sounded like a good idea. As it turns out, most people don’t like to give permission to their entire post. This is understandable considering everyone is trying to establish a brand and unique copyrighted material.
Like many things in life, contests don’t always go the way they should. On top of it the counter widget in my sidebar went goofy. So I decided to remove it and cancel the contest and move on.
I don’t feel bad about it though. It was a great learning experience for me. It is important to admit failure and learn what you can from the experiences. Many pro bloggers will tell you that they got where they did by failing many times. This is a very true statement and it is important for people to realize this when it comes to blogging and building an online business.
So let me just end this post with a word of thanks for those who did submit articles. Thank you!
I still think the 10,000 word post is a great idea, which is why I will just write the entire post myself! It is going to be a brilliant piece of work, you will see…
UPDATE: 01/14/2009 10,000 Word Post Finished!

10,000!! That’s the same amount of words as my dissertation. I wish you good luck, but wonder what type of quality the post will be. Going to have to be superbly written to hold some ones attention till the end,

I’m sorry as I’m new here. Are you saying that you are holding a contest where the participant is required to write 10,000-word post?
Hey, that’s original but how many are willing to do that anyway?

Yan,
Check out the original post for the contest.

I was simply asking for full posts from others. Their combined posts would ultimitely create a 10,000 word post on how to create a MMO blog. At the same time it would brand people forever. Whatever success the post had would transfer over to the contributers.
Maybe I jumped the gun on cancelling the contest.
